Day for Mommas

Ohhh mother's day...a day (or 3 in my case this year), to celebrate & honor ALLLLLLL that we do as 'mommies'.

According to Wikipedia:

  • Mother's Day continues to be one of the most commercially successful U.S. occasions and is now the most popular day of the year to dine out at a restaurant in the United States.
  •  Americans will spend approximately $2.6 billion on flowers, $1.53 billion on pampering gifts—like spa treatments—and another $68 million on greeting cards.
  • Mother's Day will generate about 7.8% of the U.S. jewelry industry's annual revenue in 2008, with custom gifts like mother's rings.
I thought that was pretty interesting. All I want is a nice, thoughtful card from James & Kapri (check)...oh, and breakfast doesn't hurt either (double check)  ;-)

This year the special day was split into 3...celebrating 1st with a yummmmy brunch at Steve & Amanda's house the Sunday before Mother's Day.

The 2nd was the night before Mother's Day. We had a super fun, delish dinner with my mom & sisters at the Elephant Bar (or "E-Bar") in San Marcos...after a failed attempt at going to Benihana (2 hr wait...um...NO) .

Then the 3rd & fav of them all, was ON Mother's Day...and was spent with my amazing hubby & adorable little daughter.
We started the morning suuuper early, as we had 8am breakfast reservations at a place I found online called the Brockton Villa...located in La Jolla.
I had their famous "Coast Toast"...it. was. incredible.

The reviews for this place were great, and the pictures of the ocean views were great...so I knew I wanted to try it out. I had James call to make reservations...and lucky us...they had ONE spot available (hence the crazy early time slot), and they said it was one of the best seats in the house. YAY! And it really was...and the food was great (though I wish they served champagne/mimosas before 11!!), and the whole place was just adorable...definitely new fav place, it'd be cool to take an out-of-towner here for sure!! I was so excited to go there...though a little bummed because the weather was cloudy....which didn't mesh well with my plans for a walk along the beach & to take Kapri to see the sea lions at Children's Pool...BUT, the cooler weather turned out to be really pleasant while walking actually.
Children's Pool (where the seals rule!) in La Jolla!

Being a MOM is the BEST thing I've ever done in my life. Soooo proud to be Kapri's mamma!
