More beach fun

It's not often people get to have a really nice, warm beach-worthy day in March...even for San Diego. Our weather is extremely unpredictable these days! Even more rare, is to have a FULL weekend...2 whole days I'm talking...with James home!! So on Saturday after Kapri's nap, we headed over to dog beach in Del Mar to get out of the house & relax together as a fam. It was perrrrfect outside play weather, so we had to soak it up while it lasted.

Mika is more of an 'explorer' dog, than a splash-in-the-ocean kind of dog. Kapri did a ton of exploring of her own as well. The tide was extremely low when we went, so that made for extra amounts of space to run around in.

Nature Walk

This past Thursday my youngest sister KayLee & I took Kapri & Mika for a really nice nature walk down the street at San Elijo Lagoon. I literally pass by this lagoon twice everyday on the way to & from work...but not ONCE have I ever actually walked through it!

It was a bit of a struggle to maneuver the stroller through a few of the gates, but we managed. It felt sooo good to get out of the house, in-between the days of rain, and stretch our legs & enjoy the crisp, cool weather. Mika loved all the new smells, and Kapri loved to look at all the birds & ducks...and even got to run around herself.

Bikes & Bubbles

Ah, finally Kapri is back...back to her smiling, giggling, happy little self. It's times like these that really make you appreciate good health - we are so lucky that nothing really major developed from her being sick. Last night we got some fresh air around sunset to let Kapri ride on her hand-me-down bike (thx Auntie Jen & cousin Dahlia!), color with some sidewalk chalk, and chase some bubbles.

More crafting

I told you...I'm on some mindless mission...it's past obessive. Many wonder how in the hell I have the time for this stuff....well, I function on 4-5 hours a sleep everynight...yes, weekends too, usually. I also get a lot done during Kapri's 1.5 to 2 hour mid-day nap. That a nice window of time that I like to call "Naptime Crafttime".

I made this today just in time to greet Kapri with it after her nap...Ribbon Necklace, got each color in a pack in the Target $1 bins and it seriously took like, 10 minutes.

ps...the lighter is for the end of each ribbon, to make sure it doesn't fray!

Excuse the nakieness...it was a friggin sauna in my house today. I live near the beach & it was 95, ew.
I also proudly finished my crochet scarf that I started about 2 weeks ago...it's about 6 feet long...I seriously cannot believe I turned that ball of yarn into something useful! Sorry, don't have a pic, I need to wash it so it's softer. Speaking of, does yarn shrink?? I need to Google that...

I'll be adding another item to my site shortly as well...they are universal pacifier holders - they clip on (similar to a suspender strap clip) to their clothes, then the other end is a loop string, which was the best fit for Kapri's MAM pacis (the only ones she'd take). These will be totally custom as well ;-)

Lastly...I've been desparately attempting to create these seriously adorable baby booties from an awesome baby sewing project book I got. Though after becoming increasingly frustrated with the book's directions...these booties are now on hold - mocking me everyday from the dining table. ugh.

Christmas, Snow, a month of 'bumps' and a brand New Year!

So, the past month since I have blogged has been an eventful one. We were able to move back to where we both grew up in the beautiful city of Encinitas - and are now much closer to our families. The area is wonderful, our neighbors are so friendly and Mika loves the extra space to play in & around our new home.

My sister's, Mika & I took a day trip up to Mount Laguna to play in the snow, then through to Julian to indulge in some famous Julian Apple Pie and finally down through Santa Ysabel for some delicious rosemary bread at Dudley's Bakery. This bump was around my 16th week:
My sister & I both work for the same company...who had our holiday party at the Marriott in La Jolla. Luckily I was able to fit into a little black dress that I had wore pre-pregnancy...so that was nice & made me feel pretty! That was around my 17th week of pregnancy:
We celebrated a wonderful Christmas both with James' family & mine. This will be our last with just ourselves & Mika...next year we'll have a little 7-month old in our presence! This was around the 18th week:
We also just celebrated a New Year - and we think 2009 will have a LOT in store for us! We spent the evening having a dinner party with our close friends at Niki & Nate's house. This is my 19 week bump:

Our 1st "baby"...Mika the puggle!

Here's a collaboration of pics taken during our
1st whole year having Mika in our lives...

October 19, 2007 through October 8, 2008

First Day!

1st collar - light pink:

2nd collar - baby blue:

3rd collar - light green:

*Sunny San Diego Beach Days*
Mika definitely loves to be outside...playing in the shallow water, trying to swim in the deeper water, exploring the rocks, playing with all the other dogs, digging huge holes in the sand, or just running with us as fast as she can - it all makes her one happy pup!

Snowy Mt. Laguna - Mika's an all weather kinda gal!
Her first time up in the snow was absolutely hysterical...she sniffed it for 2 seconds, then was off running like a little rabbit through the snow! I was scared that her little paws may freeze up, but they didn't...and I don't think she would've cared with all the fun she was having! I bought her a little jacket just before - it did help a bit...but I guess it was mostly for looks - and she got a lot of em, our lil cutie pie!! Can't wait til the coming winter season when we can take her again...maybe we'll get her little boots next time! hahahaha!!

The many fashions of our Mika
(aka: booger, mimi, pretty lady, mikalee, leech, badunkers, pooups,...the list just goes on & on!!)
Mika is such a little model...she really loves the camera --- or maybe I just love taking pictures of her way too much! Either way, she's the cutest little poser!!
