Can it really be true...has it really been a full 6, repeat...SIX whole days since Kapri has worn a diaper during awake time?? Yes, it is very true. And very delightful!
Words just cannot describe...but this song has been playing in my head for a few days now. I cannot STAND diapers any longer. Over night & during naps....fine - but being able to run errands, have her at preschool all day, or even take her to the local indoor playground place...all with NO diaper changes. Sure I have to ask her about 169874 times a day if she has to use the potty...but who cares!?? Way better than finding a clean place to change her diaper. ick. She's even doing pretty well holding it during naptime, and using the potty 1st thing after waking. Same with overnight...she's on the right path folks!! YIPPEEE...I'm so excited to save me a few bucks - or at least have the little extra 'diaper $' to spend elsewhere.
Though I did have an experience at a local beach this past weekend. While mid-play, covered in sand - she stopped. "Mamma...peepee in toyylettt" - too bad the bathrooms were like, 500 miles away (not really...but far enough, and it was just me & her...so I could leave all our stuff there). So, we went into the ocean. I explained to her that while at the beach it's okay to go in the ocean...haha, so we did.
But then after our fun mamma/daughter beach day, she had to go again once we got to the car. "Perfect!" I thought...the bathrooms are right here! To my disgust, I forgot how nasty & unkept these particular bathrooms were...No TP, no seat covers...nada. Guess I'll be making a trip to the store for some travel seat covers...or even better - a travel SEAT in the near future. ew...just thinking about it made me shiver...blahkkk
Congrats Buggie!!!! Soooo super proud of you for making such great progress in just a few months!! Such a big girl you are....now, next step it to have a paci send-off...which is only used for naps/overnight. But my original goal was to be rid of both that & diapers by November (when she's 2 and 1/2)...so I think we're on track! ;-)

Potty Training *UPDATE*
It seems K is really getting the hang of this potty thing...she's been doing great in my book - slowly but surely we're getting there! The sticker chart is a great incentive...though after a few times, she was over it a bit. So I made a potty treat jar- BINGO! I wasn't initially going to do this, but I figure she only gets one tiny little peanut butter M&M (yum.) and it won't last forever! Plus, mommy & daddy get to have one for any extremely messy episodes, so it's a win-win in my book! She gets to choose the color, which she says out loud as soon as she selects it & quickly pops in her mouth.
While she's chewing, she then gets to pick out a sticker for the board and correctly places it on either the pee or the poo side:

Of course AS I'm typing this blog entry....she's wearing her Dora chones and due to her lovely med side effects, proceeds to have a major accident - which THANKFULLY didn't make it's way out of them! phew
Ahhh the joys of motherhood & potty training!

Potty training...oh joy.
*sigh*.....looooong sigh. I dread potty training. I had zero motivation to have Kapri be some crazy super-toddler & be totally potty trained by 20 months. No thanks. James & I both have been pretty relaxed when it comes to this topic, so we're just taking it slow & mostly waiting for the warmer weather - so we can just let her run around diaper-less out on the patio, then have the little pink potty nearby for her to use when needed.
Though this week she seems to be making some big efforts to jump on the 'big girl' wagon and try out this potty thing more often than usual. She asked to go once after seeing me (TMI, sorry, but they have to learn somehow!)...so I held her up and she tinkled. Then on Father's Day, after letting Mika do her biz outside, she asked to go again...where we sat in the bathroom for a good 10 min, then I finally realized that she totally did #2 without telling me, IN the little pink potty!! OMG I was sooooo proud! No pic, that's just nast, but we did call daddy at work to tell him...she was so happy. She loved how excited I got, high-fives, knuckles & big hugs!!
After that - I decided it was time for the Sticker Potty Chart. So I re-used her ice cream social sign (so glad I didn't toss it right after the party!), and make a cute potty chart with some scrapbook paper, ribbon, & letter stickers that I had on-hand.

When she goes #1 and/or #2 in the toilet or pink potty, she can add the sticker of her choice. For every 7 stickers she gets up there, she'll get to pick a prize. I'll probably go grab some random cheapy toys at the Dollar Store or Target's dollar section & put them in a basket for her to choose from. That should get her pretty amped! Let's hope so, because I'm pretty damn sick of diapers. Ick. She already has 3 stickers up, so we'll see how this goes....haha! Stay tuned.
